The well-established and much loved part of Edinburgh’s festival summer is returning to Edinburgh’s Charlotte Square in August
On its premiere in 1982, the festival hosted just 30 “Meet the Author” events and has grown much ever since. In 2014 the Edinburgh International Book Festival will welcome 800 authors in over 700 events. The Book Festival is well known for its versatility. There will be room for high profile political or philosophical discussions as well as exciting literature workshops for children. Beside the official programme the festival runs a special programme dedicated for children.
Poets, novelists, best-selling authors, historians and many more writers are going to turn Charlotte Square, Edinburgh’s World Heritage listed Georgian New Town, into a lively tented village. Visitors can listen to their favourite writers and have the opportunity to browse through the latest titles. The festival offers the unique opportunity for writers and readers to meet and exchange opinions and thoughts. Each year, the festival welcomes around 220,000 visitors. The 2014 Festival will run from 9 – 25 August 2014. Opening times: 9.30am until 1am Location: Charlotte Square
The entry into the garden is free. Tickets for the events can be purchased in advance. Click here for further information.
