Edinburgh Festival Fringe – One of its kind
Originally founded as an alternative to the Edinburgh Festival in 1947, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is now the largest arts festival in the world. Every year in August the Edinburgh city centre is transformed into festival city. The Fringe offers thousands of different shows, including comedy, classical drama, music, dance, cabaret, performing arts and street performances.
Every artist, who can find a venue to perform, is welcome to participate, which leads to a great variety of shows – well established artists are just as welcome as newcomers.
Most of the Fringe festival takes place in the city centre, especially around the Royal Mile. Each year perfomers and visitors from more than 45 countries visit Edinburgh to join the event and the population of Edinburgh doubles during the month of August.
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2014 will take place between 01-25 August 2014. Click here for further information.
